So this blog post has been long overdue. One June 25th 2009, a part of music passed away that day. Gone too soon the world mourned. You know some people you expect to be around forever, kind of like you parents. Some people's lives just seem immortal, like this was not suppose to happen. The world has lost someone who was not only an American Icon, but he was a World Icon, whose musical talents and genius will never be matched by another. Yes he was a flawed genius, but the two go hand in hand for the most part. He was a true entertainer of the world. He was my idol and I just happened to share him with the rest of the world. I literally grew up on Michael Jackson. I remember as a child I use to beg my father to bring out his video camera (and this was not some hand held joint, this was back in the 80's with the big boy video camera that you popped a whole VHS tape into, that my daddy had to hold up on his shoulders lol), and record me doing my best MJ impersonations with me playing his music in the background singing along and doing his dance moves (well at least attempting to try). Michael Jackson helped to bring out the creativity in me, that's what meant the most to be about him. Not how he affected and inspired millions of lives, but how he affected and inspired mine.

It's been just over two weeks since his passing, and I have spent the time just processing memories. I never got why fans cried when celebrities passed, I was always like "c'mon you did not even know this person". But I KNEW Michael Jackson, nobody can tell me nothing about that. Through the TV we danced together when I was a kid (man even still to this day), I danced with him at my high school prom, when I was driving through the street of Iraq in my army truck, he was always there with me through my iPod giving me hope of a safe return back home. He and his music was such a major part of my life.

He taught the us all how to walk on the Moon and that We Are The World. One thing that I learned from Michael Jackson was that putting away some childish things was like losing a good bit of joy from my life.

lmao at the 4:34 mark, seeing you young Michael get mad at the camera guy for messing up his close up and calling him a 'schmut' then telling him to back up and then let out a big ((SIGH)) and call him a 'ditwit' lmao lmao. Tell 'em why you mad Mike tell 'em why you mad.

Ah good times seeing him dancing to R. Kelly's 'Ignition' remix, and why in the video when you see him get an egg cracked on his head, he goes and put his hat right back on lol. SMH

This video clip is one of my favorite Michael Jackson performances at the 1995 MTV Music Video Awards. Man did he rock that stage, this performance was so dope, he was dancing his ass off. He owned that stage that night!!!!! Like he always did anyways. Um... remember Motown 25 anyone???? Remember on that show the birth of the Moonwalk? Every time MJ moonwalked the whole entire world danced. That show was before my time, but my parents had it recorded on VHS and that's how I got introduced to Michael Jackson, that and my parent's the making of 'Thriller' VHS tape that I watched over and over. I could not get enough, even from when I was young to when I worked at Hollywood Video in my teens and use to everyday play 'Moonwalker' on the store TVs until the other employees got sick of me and hid the VHS from me to play one day. Then two years later the same thing happened with my Circuit City co-workers lol. I had Michael Jackson videos playing everytime I was on shift on like twenty something big screen TVs, lol it was so awesome!!!!

Now most people don't know that they had made a video for 'Human Nature', which is pretty cool. So 'Human Nature' has always been in the top 5 of my all time favorite MJ songs. I always joke with people to listen to the lyrics of the song and try to make sense of it, I have no idea what he is talking about lol. But you know what I still don't care, it's an AWESMAZING song!!!!!

I remember when I was deployed away in the Middle East with the army when this concert took place in Madison Square Garden in 2001, Michael Jackson performed in my own back yard and I was not home to see it. CRAP!!!! ((shaking my fists at the heavens))

You got to checkout this dope mini doctrine paying tribute to Michael Jackson, it crams a whole lot of thoughts into this 5:32 video titled 'Dance You Into The Sunlight'. I am going to have to rewatch this a couple of times

Very few people get the chance to create moments in history. Do you know how major that is to be able to do so, to create not just one but several moments in history????? That is something the world will never be able to forget about. Michael Jackson did just so his whole entire life, the list in endless!!!!!

I think that these images are really really dope, about two years ago I have become a fan of art. I love seeing life produce creativity, or creativity feed off of life.

I wish I had just a tad bit of the level of creativity as visionary photographer Bela Borsodi, creator of the following images below. A good creativity exercise that I learned once was to look at a picture or image, and list off what you notice about it or can imagine about it. Helps to practice to get your creative juices flowing.

My definition of creativity is seeing and showing the rest of the world what they have not noticed or seen.

I have never been camping for fun before. I have done camping out in the field for army training and stuff before, but the army sure knows how to take the fun out of everything sometimes lol

But yeah one of the things on my to do list is to go out camping, oh and to stay in a log cabin too with like no electricity, rough it out a bit lol. Haha I actually want to borrow a tent and camp out on my front lawn for shits and giggles. Why? Because I am a got damn adult that's why!!!! lol

Favorite Person of the Moment- RYAN LESLIE

So my favorite person of the moment is Singer/Song Writer/ Producer Ryan Leslie. This guy is so dope and has so much talent, creativity and style. I love to see him and work, watching the creative juices flowing, and seeing the great products of his efforts. It's crazy to watch how he builds and creates a track, it's amazing how he uses live instruments for his tracks and he plays all of them. First he will play on instrument and record the sound, then move on to play several other instruments individually record and then mix all of them together for a full track. Gives you the feel of a live band playing, but it is really the efforts of just one very talented individual Ryan Leslie. Now mind you he is not the only producer (excuse me I mean musician) who can do this, but Ryan Leslie does it with so much style and swagger.

Here is a video clip of his new song 'Gibberish', I love the concept of it, exactly what the title of the song says, it's gibberish. I like to watch musicians in the creative process of making a song, it is very interesting. During the creative process songwriters sometimes sing unintelligible syllables to create a melody and lay down a guide, sort of like a map for the song and later add the words to that melody. Well this whole song is just all unintelligible melody of syllables lol, quite amusing and I actually like it! Only Ryan Leslie has the swagger to pull off a song like this lol.

After seeing this next clip a few months ago of seeing Ryan Leslie on the keyboard playing improvisational with a hip hop track, I went out and bought a keyboard the next day I swear. I use to play the piano when I was younger and stopped for no real reason. I want to start playing again and get nice with it, just give me 1/10th of the talent of this guy and I am all good. Maybe even impress a lady or two

This is a recently music freestyle he did entitled 'My President is Black', take a listen because it ties in into the rest of this blog and some recent flack towards him which I do not agree with and take from the song

Check out this Fox News link portraying Jay-Z as a racist, which I have real mixed feelings about. Being that I know how passionate and influential he has been with the American youth in rallying to make a change in this country and show support for Obama (excuse me I mean President Obama), and bringing awareness. But looking from the outside as someone who does not know Jay-Z this video looks really bad. But this segment is totally biased and negative. It's crazy how they take one line from him music with a short situation in a hip hop element, and try to use that to sum up Jay-Z's whole campaigning efforts, ideals and thoughts of the immense and worldly importance of Obama's victory and presidency into something negative. I am really not liking this Michelle Malkin lady talking in the video, and I have read some of her other stuff online. Her post racial America views or so way off and I think she should keep what she said referring to Martin Luther King out her mouth

(and mind you Jay-Z is not the first guy speaking in the video clip shown, it's Young Jeezy)

Once again here is another attack of Jay-Z's character, and it's kind of upsetting listening to these guys' snide remarks and slick jokes putting a smear on Jay-Z’s views and accomplishments of support and bringing awareness to the importance of making history in this country.

And then after they dismissed Jay-Z as just a sidebar as a sidebar could get (but yet he is still a major topic of their conversation. Go figure huh), they move on to talk a bit of trash about President Obama and his first executive action as President which he has received some criticizing about from the Republicans about shutting down Guantanamo Bay and trying to tone down the CIA's so-called torture tactics. Obama feels that we do not have to compromise our values to protect ourselves. His recent and quick decision of make changes to what the Bush administration had created and left behind has received hails from human rights activists and the majority of the American public (including myself to some extent, I’m still wondering what is best). Some Republicans accused the White House of acting rashly and without sufficient concern for potential risks. Here is a quote I found "This is an executive order that places hope ahead of reality—it sets an objective without a plan to get there," Rep. This is a pretty interesting video I found on the history of the internet. If you really think about it is is pretty cool how far along we have come with technology and the internet when you think about how it was back in the day.

I do not know what I did on the internet to occupy my time before MySpace lol. And it is funny when I watch the Cosby Show and see the Huxtable kids doing homework in the library, I remember using encyclopedias as a kid to research and write reports and do projects. Now Goggle has all the answers and I do mean ALL. Do they even still make encyclopedias lol???? I really LOL'd reading this wondering if this is really real and sure nuff it seems to be (Google told me so of course lol. 30 Things I Learned to do Before I Turn 30

They say that your twenties are for exploring who you are, and your thirties are for putting that knowledge into practice, and building on it. Everyday I intend to make myself a better man

These are the top 30 things that I feel are important to me that I have learned that any man (or women) should do before they are 30

1. Have a mentor, let someone guide you through what they have already been thru.

(I find my mentor in church)

2. Get a passport and use it put some stamps on it, lol and the Caribbean does not count, go across the seas man.

(I have been halfway around the work and back, I have done and seen things that most will never see or do i their life. I have so much more left of the world to visit. Thailand is high recommend by me make sure you stay in the city of Pattaya)

3. Learn to play golf.

(I want to accomplish this, alot of business men conduct their business on the golf course)

4. Volunteer for a charity beyond just writing a check. Show up and help. You will be surprised how good it will make you feel.

(Even if I can not change the world myself, I want to help give others the opportunity to do so)

5. Have a career path, not just a job.

(With a job you are just there because you need a paycheck, with a career there is passion)

6. Get a good watch, it helps tell about your character, that you care about your time.

(I have alot watches, I love watches. But I still have yet to get that one good watch. You know the one that you store in a box all by itself lol)

7. Go to a major event, like the superbowl or a concert of a lifetime. Something to look back on a brag about.

(I still waiting for a Micheal Jackson concert lol)

8. Own a good suit, preferably custom made. If you can't afford a suit, some good shirts and ties will do.

(Custom made is a good look, courtesy of my visit to Thailand. No way should any man over 20 have to worry about going somewhere or to a job interview because he does not own a suit. Everyman needs a suit! My son is going to have a suit from when he starts walking)

9. Learn to cook atleast ONE dish very well, ladies love a man who can cook

(I do okay in the kitchen, I can follow recipe directions very well lol)

10. Start and maintain a steady and effective workout program. When you look good and feel good inside, it helps with a healthy mind.

(Even tho I don't have time for the gym, I do what I do in my home. Push ups, sit ups, go for a run and etc.)

11. Find a good doctor and maintain regular checkups.

(Keep exercising and you will always get good news, worst case scenario you can catch a problem early)

12. Do all the crazy sexual things you fantasize about

(lol I'ma keep quite on this one lol)

13. Have your heart broken. It's a humbling experience that will teach you more about yourself than almost anything else in life.

(This is true talk, I'm sure this will happen again, and it's okay. This is what it takes, my life experiences to make me a better man)

14. Attend a protest rally for a cause you believe in.

(I have yet to find a cause that I have been so passionate for, they say you are never passionate about things until it hits home for you. I hope I don't find my passion the hard way)

15. Give blood. It's fast, cost you nothing, and you might save someone's life.

(Sometimes they have some really good cookies for you afterwards. My rule is "No cookies, No Blood" lol)

16. Get fired

(lol get this unfortunate situation out the way now while you are young, and make sure it does not happen again. I almost got fired once, but that is a long story. It involved a very expensive BMW and a missing bumper lol)

17. Register to vote and use that vote every chance you get.

(Yes I am registered, but has never voted before until Nov. 4th 2008. I had to make that change and take resposibility)

18. Buy a good pair of shoes, it will make or break your outfit.

(You can't wear your custom made suit with some Rockports, c'mon now lol. Ruin the whole effectiveness of the suit. Suits and sneakers lol WTF????)

19. Learn to drive stick shift.

(All my cars have been stick shift. It's more fun that automatic you ain't driving until you drive manual, and you will be able to drive any car in any country in the world)

20. Read a great book, one that affects your life.

(My book so far has been 'Message to the Blackman' by the Honorable Elijah Muhammad. Funny thing is that this book of Islam faith caused me to question my Christian religion, forced me to dig in and explore for answers and in turn strengthen my Christian faith)

21. Face your fears. Sky dive if you scared of heights etc.

(My only fear is to fail as a father)

22. Adopt a pet, so you can learn to take care of someone other than yourself

(Have had two dogs in my life, got it right the second time around lol)

23. Stop renting and own your own piece of real estate

(The best investment that anyone can make is into their home. I will and I repeat will have my own home before I am 30. Better believe it.)

24. In your home, own furniture that you don't have to assemble

(lol Futons should be your extra furniture. But until I get my home I'ma love my futon lol)

25. Learn to swim.

(lol I know how to swim, and yeah I know it's funny to hear that a grown ass man can't swim, but you never know what could happen one day in an emergency)

26. Buy something ridiculously expensive and unnecessary for your parents. they put up with you in your formative years.

27. Get a college degree. No matter what anyone says, it makes a difference.

(If i did not think so, you are sadly mistaken. All of my critical thinking I learned from great professors who challenged me, my education is still continuing)

So what do you think about Kanye West's newest musical project '808s & Heartbreak'? Well you know what weather you hate it or love it, everyone is talking about it, there is no denying that.

I am a big Kanye fan from his 'Throught the Wire' days. What he has done and accomplished for Hip Hop and music as a whole is something to be noted. I have never seem anyone more passionate about his music and art than Mr. West. It's funny how he throws his lil temper tantrums when people do not truly realize really how much work, thought and effort he put into the quality and details of one song or video. He makes sure that you know how much by all means necessary lol.

I am still trying to figure out if I only like '808s and Heartbreak' because I am a Kanye West fan, or if I really like the music for the music itself. The album definitely is an acquired taste lol. But I am a big fan of all types of music and genres. (going off subject for a quick second, here is my new favorite song and music video right now. The flip book concept in the video is CRAAZZY!!!SICK!!!!)...

But I must say I am a fan of the album (not my favorite Kanye album,(( ahem)) 'Graduation'), it's no Andre 3000 ((ahem)) 'The Love Below', but a great album still non the less. Alot of people knock this album because it is not of Kanye's "so-called" medium of him rapping. But I asked myself if I never heard Kanye rap before, or some other artist did this exact same album would I like it? Think about that.

I always love to see artist push the envelope musically, that's were we get of best music and growth in music from. You really need to grow as an artist, because if you think about it, something that is not growing is dead. I always prefer to say about an artist "damn they kinda got too crazy with this track" rather than say "yo why they keeping doing the say shit over and over". But I tell you this I can't wait for Kanye to drop his next hot 16 bars

President Elect Barack Obama...The New World Leader of Hope

So I am trying to figure out how I can make it to Washington D.C to take part in a very historical moment and probably the most historic event in my lifetime so far. The Inauguration of President Elect Barack Obama, the first African American President of the United States, a new world leader of hope. I will touch on that last comment of mine soon of why Obama was not only important and history for us here in the U.S, but has affected the whole entire world.

So Nov. 4th was a very important and exciting day for me, nothing was going to stop me from voting. So this election was my first time ever voting, and I was so proud and excited to do so for the first time. I don't know about you guys, but when I pulled that lever for Obama in the voting booth, it was just an intense unreal feeling for me. I knew I was taking part in history, and that tomorrow I would see the future begin. I look forward to being able to tell my children about this journey we all have taken with Barack Obama on his way to the White House. (check out some pics of my experience)...

I made sure to play my part in history. Some people when they found out that I have never voted before, they looked at me like "why have you ever voted before, do you realize how important voting is?", and I'm like "duh! that's why I am voting now". Instead of them asking me why I never voted before, really they should of been congratulating me on doing so right now, especially in a election as important as this one. I never cared for or paid much attention to the election process before. But this one that just passed was so important for me, because there was a real opportunity for change and hope. Something that this country is really in need of.

On Nov. 4th a nation in record numbers voted and made their voice be heard for change

Barack Obama on Nov. 4th changed the world in one day. Earlier in this blog I called The New World Leader of Hope. On Nov. 4th countries from all over the world who had nothing to do with the United States election process watched in anticipation, and celebrated worldwide when Obama won the election for presidency. You see this man does not only provide hope for America but for the rest of the nations across the globe, for a better world and future. Under our last American government for the past 8 years, America has come to be hated by the world as being bullies, hypocrites and what not. Obama now is able to redefine the world's view of America and be able to actually sit down and talk with other countries. You could say that Obama comes from an oppressed people as well, so talks with these other countries can come from a different level of understanding, and bring change and hope to the world.

Barack Obama during his campaign run said for us to not believe in only him to make a change in Washington D.C, but to believe in ourselves to make that change. WE DID IT!!!!This is our new President, we made history.

People say that Obama's words are just words, but when was the last time that word's we not important? Like how a simple kind word can make or change someone's day or better yet life, or how a single negative word can oppress and offend a whole race all in one (NIGGER). When was the last time a great leader didn't use words to lead? When was the last time a person did not use words to describe how they felt? And when was the last time "words" were not empowering?
